Background & Experience
I graduated from Nottingham Trent with a First Class BA (Hons) in Textile Design
in 2003. Upon graduation, I exhibited at ‘New Designers’ & was lucky enough
to get spotted by Paul Smith for a work placement in their London Design
Office. I worked initially for Menswear Print & then got a permanent position
as a Print Designer on Womenswear.
I worked at PS for 3 years, loving the company’s strong focus on Print
within their collections & use of digital print, which was a relatively
new technology within fashion at the time. I moved from PS to Ted Baker,
where I worked as the in-house Print Designer for Womenswear for 4 years.
I enjoyed the creative scope the brand offered & the arena to indulge
the quirkiness I so love in Print.

What I’m up to now…
At the end of 2011 I decided it was time to migrate back to my Northern roots
(with a short 6 month break in-between to get married & travel the world!)
Using my 8yrs in-house, brand experience & passion for all things Print,
I am now going it alone as a Freelance Print Designer.

I designed this website to reflect my natural print style… I love quirkiness &
prints that make people smile, that have a personality & really make a garment,
interior, bag, i-pod cover, notebook, invite etc… stand out as, well…..‘A Beauty!

Artworks on the ‘New Work’ section of my site are available to buy through
Agents based in London. Please contact me for their contact details if you
would like to see fabric hangers & are interested in buying. I am of course
available to work to a design brief, to develop prints for clothing, accessories,
interiors…across all market levels, you name it really!

“Emily Humphrey” Interiors collection
The opening offering from ‘Emily Humphrey Design’, an independent,
print-driven, interior brand offering soft furnishings & print-injected
furniture that’s a “nudge from the norm”. The cushion collection is
designed around the concept of a ‘mix & match flip book’, the fronts
& backs of the cushions feature contrasting prints that can be
flipped & displayed to suit your mood!
Graphic & minimal, quirky & intriguing, traditional with a titter!
The collection features 2 x cushion sizes: 45 x 45cm & 60 x 60cm,
100% natural feather pads with digitally printed
100% Cotton Satin covers featuring a range of prints from
the collection.
All products are 100% British designed & made.
The Collection will be officially launched at “Tent London 2014”

I am keen illustrator & vintage ephemera hoarder, & utilise these
loves within my work, working on Photoshop to blend elements &
create new Print-babies for your pleasure!
